Escape to Freedom

Book One in the FreedomRedux series

Chronicles of Aria Prime Episode One

In an age of tyranny, the courage to stand up for liberty is priceless...

In 2049, the world has become a different place. China has surpassed the United States as the world’s major superpower; Europe is in economic shambles, and Germany considers leaving the European Union as protest against bailing out the EU multiple times.
The United States has changed as well. The President is a cold, ruthless man intent on ruling the world under his One World Government concept. The rights and freedoms of individuals have been suppressed, taxation has become oppressive, and the economy is in shambles. Unions force individuals to become members, only to line the pockets of the union executives. Small businesses are almost nonexistent due to government red tape and crony capitalism. In the South, a small coalition of politicians, intent on returning liberty, begin to talk of a revolt against the federal government.
Kirk Dillon is a retired Army officer turned writer living with his high school age son in a small town east of Cincinnati. Kirk has spent his life standing up for liberty and freedom, only to become disgusted at what has become of his once great nation. When Kirk’s son is taken by the national police for “reeducation”, Kirk swings into action. Accompanied by his longtime friend Matt Pickett, Kirk rescues his son. Pursued relentlessly by the national police, the trio embark on a perilous journey south in an effort to escape to freedom.

By showing how big government, socialist policies affect individuals, as well as how they play out behind closed doors in Washington, AJ Reissig paints a vivid, dystopic picture of America in its not-so-distant future. This story frightens me, not because of the high-energy action scenes or the protagonist’s dangerous journey south, but because Reissig’s fictional future does not seem so far-fetched. Escape to Freedom is a chilling reminder that the precedents set by politicians, special interest groups and unions of today, pave the pathway toward a crippled economy, police state policies, and, ultimately, civil war.

Amazon Review

Communism in the United States? Preposterous! But Reissig, in a well-crafted and suspenseful plot, shows convincingly how it could happen in a slow but sinister process. And that process has actually started! The message of this book is clear: if Americans let the Federal Government become too big, it would only turn for the worse, and their own rights would be sacrificed. Reissig was able to send a powerful message while keeping me entertained. Masterful, well-written thriller!

Amazon Review

This book was very interesting. I was really surprised when I realized that it takes place in the area that I live. After reading about several places that I recognized I stopped reading to research the author. He lives not far from me and it was really interesting, as I kept reading, to hear about this area in a book. Besides that, the book is extremely interesting and touches on the problems that we are now facing as a nation. I have recommended this book to all my friends and would highly recommend this book to anyone. My husband, who is not a reader, also enjoyed this book.
